CREED WELCOMES REPAIRS TO N22 IN BAILE MHIC ÍRE/BAILE BHUIRNE.

NRA MUST COMMIT TO COMPLETE RESURFACING IN NEAR FUTURE

 Fine Gael, Cork North West T.D. Michael Creed has welcomed the signing of a contract by the NRA which will see resurfacing works being carried out on the main N22 road through Baile Mhic Íre village.  Speaking on the announcement Deputy Creed said;

“I have been making representations to the NRA for several months on this issue.  Residents, businesses, commuters and pedestrians have all been frustrated and outraged at the state of the road surface through the village.  The road has been in disrepair since major works were carried out on underground piping some years ago.  Poor weather and heavy traffic have increased the problem”.

“The recent commitment by the NRA to repair the worst affected parts of the road is a positive development.  I have been informed that a contract has been signed with a contractor to carry out the works, commencing in November.  However these remedial works will not be accepted as a final settlement of the issue.  It is vital that the NRA commit to a full and comprehensive resurfacing of the road, completed with proper road markings and traffic calming measures.  I will continue to make representations to the NRA until this has been achieved.
